I am doing a research paper on credit cards, and if they are really all that great…?

Question by KC_Meag42: I am doing a research paper on credit cards, and if they are really all that great…?
I have to choose a topic in personal finance to write a research paper on in my online class. I am stumped for ideas. The only thing I can come up with is the whole credit issue. Is having a credit card useful, what causes credit to go bad, etc.

We have to have at least six credible sources of info, and the paper has to be five-ten pages.

Is there enough information out there (fact-based, not opinion-based) to allow me to use this topic?

If so, where’s the best place to go to find it… And if not, what else could I do my paper on?

I am not sure if there is more credible source than the richest man himself.

PS: Human nature is the reason credit goes bad…sweet temptation

  1. How about doing the paper on Credit Counseling Services and how they claim to help people get out of debt but in fact, they add negatively to a credit report.
Many people do not know that when you go to one of these companies for help they will add a note to your credit file that says something to the affect of “account managed by ABC Credit Counselors” and this looks bad to many lenders… almost as bad as seeing a past bankruptcy on your account.

I don’t know if you will find a whole lot of information on this topic but I think you will teach the class something they most likely are unaware of.

    Good Luck!
